A hillside residence transformed through the addition of a new master guest house, renovation of the existing villa and an expanded pool terrace, bringing old and new together within its tropical setting.

Architectural design for the new master guest house, developed to complement the existing villa while responding to the steep hillside site, tropical climate and surrounding views.
Interior architecture, space planning and design developed as an extension of the architectural concept, creating functional, contemporary spaces with a strong connection to the landscape.
Targeted renovation and architectural modifications to the existing villa, integrating the original residence with the new accommodation and upgraded exterior living areas.
Landscape interventions designed to integrate the new architecture, existing villa, terraces and pool while connecting the property's different levels within the established tropical setting.
Integrated architectural and ambient lighting designed to enhance materials, spatial depth and atmosphere while supporting comfortable indoor and outdoor living throughout the day and evening.
Furniture, fittings, bespoke pieces and joinery selected or designed specifically for the property to complement the architecture and relaxed contemporary character.
A restrained palette of natural stone, timber, neutral finishes and tactile materials selected to create continuity between the new construction, renovated villa and exterior spaces.
Detailed design documentation and ongoing coordination during construction to communicate the design intent, respond to site conditions and maintain consistency through implementation.

The project began with an existing hillside residence on a compact, steeply sloping site overlooking the tropical landscape of Koh Samui. Rather than simply renovating the original house, the brief evolved into a wider architectural intervention to increase accommodation, improve outdoor living and make better use of the available land.
A new standalone master guest house was introduced, responding to the material language and proportions of the original villa while establishing its own identity through generous glazing, natural stone, timber detailing and carefully framed views.
The existing residence was upgraded alongside the new construction, with internal improvements complemented by an extended terrace and enlarged swimming pool. New pathways, terraces and landscaping connect the different levels, integrating old and new architecture within the challenging hillside topography.
The completed property brings both buildings together as one cohesive tropical residence, increasing the scale and quality of the accommodation while preserving the openness, privacy and strong connection to the landscape that originally defined the site.
A new standalone master guest house expands the accommodation while creating a private retreat within the wider property, with bedroom, bathroom and living spaces oriented towards the surrounding landscape and views.
The new architecture was designed to sit comfortably alongside the existing villa rather than compete with it, using complementary proportions, natural stone, timber and restrained finishes to establish a consistent architectural language.
The original residence was carefully upgraded as part of the wider project, improving its interiors and architectural detailing while retaining the established character and structure of the house.
The existing terraces were expanded to create more generous outdoor living areas, strengthening the relationship between the internal spaces, swimming pool and tropical landscape.
The swimming pool was enlarged and integrated with the redesigned terrace, creating a stronger focal point for the property and making better use of its panoramic hillside setting.
The steep site informed the positioning and levels of each new intervention, allowing the additional accommodation and exterior spaces to settle naturally into the hillside.
Stone, timber, neutral plaster and understated finishes connect the original and new architecture, creating a relaxed material palette appropriate to the tropical setting.
New planting and landscape interventions soften the architecture and connect the buildings, terraces and different levels, reinforcing the feeling of a private residence embedded within its tropical surroundings.
