BAYA joined Baan Phangan Beach during the later stages of the architectural process, initially commissioned to develop the complete interior design of the six-bedroom beachfront residence. Our involvement expanded to refining layouts, spatial relationships, architectural finishes and detailing, creating a stronger connection between the interior and exterior character of the home.
A Mediterranean and Mexican-influenced language emerged, adapted specifically for tropical island living. Warm mineral colours, textured plaster, terracotta and temple-brick tones, rustic teak and natural stone establish a distinctive material palette, complemented by bespoke steps, openings, screens, niches and handcrafted architectural details.
The interiors were developed as an extension of this architectural character rather than as a separate decorative layer. Bespoke furniture and joinery, lighting, textiles and carefully selected finishes create a relaxed, tactile atmosphere, while individual bedrooms and bathrooms retain their own identities within the broader design language.
Working within an established construction programme required a focused and collaborative approach. The result transforms the existing architectural framework through materials, colour, interiors and architectural detailing, giving the beachfront residence a highly individual identity tailored closely to the client’s vision.

Final floor plans and spatial relationships were carefully reviewed and refined to strengthen circulation, functionality and the relationship between the principal living, private and outdoor spaces.
Mediterranean and Mexican references informed a warmer, more expressive aesthetic of mineral colours, textured surfaces, earthy tones and handcrafted details, reinterpreted for a tropical beachfront setting.
New details including brick steps, niches, screens, openings and selected architectural finishes extended the design language beyond the interiors and gave the property a stronger visual identity.
Textured plaster, terracotta and temple-brick tones, natural stone, rustic teak and woven materials create depth and character while remaining appropriate to informal island living.
Custom furniture, cabinetry, shelving and decorative elements were developed specifically for the residence, allowing the interior character to feel integrated rather than applied.
The colour palette became an important part of the architectural expression, using warm earthy and mineral tones to articulate spaces and reinforce the property's distinctive Mediterranean-tropical character.
Working alongside the established architectural and construction teams allowed new ideas to be integrated into an existing project while maintaining continuity and responding efficiently to the demands of an active build.
