Situated within one of Koh Samui’s most exclusive beachfront estates, Villa Peace presented an opportunity to fundamentally rethink an existing luxury residence. Rather than a cosmetic refurbishment, the project focused on unlocking the potential of the original architecture through intelligent replanning, new spatial connections and a complete redesign of the interiors.
Previously underutilised areas beneath the elevated main level were transformed into a substantial new kitchen and fully equipped gym, allowing the principal living spaces above to become considerably more open and connected. Further replanning created two additional guest bedrooms within the existing property, increasing accommodation without unnecessary expansion of the building.
Outside, the swimming pool was extended with an integrated jacuzzi, complemented by a new outdoor bar, shaded dining and expanded entertaining terraces. An unused flat roof became a private yoga and relaxation deck overlooking the bay, adding another dimension to the villa’s beachfront lifestyle.
Throughout the residence, natural stone, warm timber, bespoke joinery and a completely renewed palette of kitchens, bathrooms, lighting and furniture establish a calmer contemporary identity. The result is a home transformed not simply in appearance, but in the way it functions — more generous, more connected and far better suited to relaxed tropical living.
The renovation began by reconsidering how the existing villa could function rather than simply updating its appearance. Underused spaces, circulation and relationships between rooms were carefully reworked, allowing targeted architectural alterations to significantly improve the flow, functionality and overall experience of the home.
Relocating key functions allowed the principal living level to become a generous open-plan environment centred around family life and entertaining. Kitchen, dining and lounge spaces now connect naturally with the terrace, swimming pool and beachfront through expansive folding glazing, creating a continuous relationship between interior and exterior living.
Intelligent replanning unlocked valuable space within the existing architecture, creating a substantial new kitchen, fully equipped gym and two additional guest bedrooms without unnecessary expansion of the building. The interventions significantly increased both the accommodation and functionality of the villa while making more effective use of its original footprint.
Outdoor living was comprehensively reimagined around the villa's exceptional beachfront setting. The swimming pool was extended with an integrated jacuzzi, while a new outdoor bar, shaded dining and entertaining terraces were complemented by a rooftop yoga and relaxation deck overlooking the Gulf of Thailand.
A completely renewed material palette brings consistency and warmth throughout the residence. Natural limestone, oak and teak joinery, woven textures, soft neutral fabrics and large-format porcelain are combined with bespoke furniture, new kitchens, bathrooms and integrated lighting to create a calm contemporary tropical interior.
Every intervention ultimately responds to the villa's relationship with the sea. Expanded glazing, improved circulation and more generous outdoor spaces strengthen views towards the Gulf of Thailand while introducing greater natural light and ventilation, creating a home that feels increasingly connected to landscape, water and the rhythms of tropical beachfront living.
