Overlooking the Gulf of Thailand on Koh Samui, Villa Amylia is an eight-bedroom luxury estate comprising a five-bedroom main residence and an independent three-bedroom guest villa. BAYA developed the complete interior architecture and interior design alongside architectural enhancements that strengthen the relationship between the buildings, outdoor spaces and panoramic ocean views. Clean contemporary architecture is balanced with natural materials, warmth and a relaxed tropical character.
Extensive bespoke furniture, kitchens, wardrobes, bathroom cabinetry, wall panelling and architectural joinery were designed specifically for the estate. Natural oak, stone and Spanish porcelain establish a cohesive material language, while two bespoke kitchens, a private cinema, professional gym, wellness facilities and two Sukabumi stone infinity pools create the amenities of a private resort.

The interior architecture was developed to create a consistent design identity across two separate villas while allowing individual rooms and spaces to retain their own character. Architectural detailing, material transitions, integrated storage and bespoke joinery establish continuity throughout the estate. Natural oak became the defining material, bringing warmth to the contemporary architecture and creating a visual connection between bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens and principal living spaces.
Rather than furnishing the villas with a collection of unrelated products, much of the interior was designed specifically for the project. Beds, dining tables, television units, wardrobes, bathroom vanities, children's bunk beds and integrated furniture were developed around the proportions and requirements of individual spaces. This approach allowed furniture and architecture to work together while maximising functionality and maintaining a clean, uncluttered interior.
The interiors combine contemporary architectural simplicity with materials and textures selected to create warmth within the tropical setting. Expansive glazing connects the principal spaces with ocean views, terraces and pools, while oak, natural fabrics, stone and textured surfaces soften the architecture. A restrained palette allows the landscape and Gulf of Thailand to remain the visual focus throughout both residences.
Villa Amylia was designed to offer considerably more than conventional residential accommodation. A private cinema, professional gym, wellness facilities and extensive entertainment areas provide a complete range of spaces for relaxation and recreation. Two infinity-edge swimming pools finished in natural Sukabumi stone anchor the outdoor areas, giving the main and guest villas their own distinct poolside environments while maintaining the identity of the estate as a whole.
The dual-villa configuration allows large families and groups to occupy the property together while maintaining a high degree of independence and privacy. Each residence has its own kitchen, living areas, bedrooms and outdoor spaces, while larger communal areas allow guests to gather comfortably. Circulation and spatial planning were carefully considered so the estate can transition naturally between private family use and larger-scale entertaining.
