Designed for a private developer in Koh Phangan, Mira Villas is a boutique collection of contemporary private pool residences shaped around privacy, simplicity and relaxed island living. The low-density masterplan balances commercial requirements with generous landscaping and considered separation between homes, giving each villa the character and privacy of an individual tropical residence.
The architecture creates a generous sense of space within a compact, efficient footprint. Open-plan living areas connect directly with private courtyards, gardens and swimming pools, while double-height volumes bring natural light deep into the interiors. An elevated master suite sits beneath the dramatic pitched roof, with deep overhangs and timber detailing subtly referencing traditional Southeast Asian architecture through a contemporary tropical language.
Bespoke joinery, integrated lighting and a restrained palette of natural timber, limestone, textured plaster and woven materials create interiors that feel warm, calm and understated. Materials were selected for their natural character, durability and suitability for repeated construction across the development.

Rather than maximising the number of residences across the site, the masterplan was developed around privacy, landscape and separation between individual villas. Careful positioning creates natural outlooks from each residence while reducing direct views between neighbouring properties. Generous planting and private garden areas further soften the overall composition, allowing each villa to retain the character of an individual tropical home.
Mira Villas demonstrates how intelligent planning can create a generous spatial experience within a relatively efficient architectural footprint. Double-height living spaces, open-plan layouts and strong visual connections to gardens and pools make the interiors feel considerably larger than their physical dimensions. Circulation is deliberately minimised, allowing more of the available area to be dedicated to usable living space.
The distinctive pitched roofs provide much of the architectural identity of Mira Villas, drawing inspiration from traditional Southeast Asian tropical buildings while being expressed through a simplified contemporary language. Deep overhangs provide shade and protection from tropical rain, while high internal volumes encourage natural air movement. Timber detailing, carefully proportioned openings and shaded transitions between inside and outside further respond to the particular demands of the island climate.
Each villa is organised around the relationship between its principal interior spaces and its private external environment. Living and dining areas open directly onto terraces, landscaped courtyards and swimming pools, effectively extending the usable footprint of the home into the garden. Large glazed openings introduce abundant natural light while maintaining a continuous visual connection with the surrounding landscape.
A deliberately restrained palette allows natural materials and craftsmanship to provide character without excessive decoration. Timber, limestone, travertine, textured mineral plaster and handcrafted stone are combined with softer woven fibres and natural fabrics. Materials were selected for their tactile quality, suitability for the tropical environment and ability to develop character naturally over time.
The interior architecture continues the simplicity of the external design, using proportion, natural light and carefully considered detailing to create calm and understated living spaces. Bespoke joinery, integrated lighting, natural fabrics and a limited material palette create continuity throughout each residence. The elevated mezzanine master suite provides a more intimate counterpoint to the dramatic volume of the principal living space below.
